Build Your Piece

Choose a starting point for each element. Nothing is committed — our designers will come back to you with sketches and a quotation.

01 Jewellery type What are we making?
02 Gemstone A coloured stone, or choose a diamond in the next step. A piece is built around one or the other.
03 Diamond A diamond centre stone, or choose a gemstone in the step above.
04 Gemstone shape Shape changes how a stone carries light, and how large it looks for its weight.
05 Metal We work in 9KT, 10KT, 14KT and 18KT gold. Choose the purity and the colour — 18KT is the usual choice for gemstone settings.
Metal Purity
Selected tone:18KT Yellow Gold
06 Setting How the stone is held. This decides the character of the piece more than anything else.

Your specification

Send this to our design studio and we will reply within two working days with sketches and a quotation, subject to the complexity of the design. A design fee applies to newly created designs.

Design, revisions and charges

What the design stage costs

Sketches and a quotation. Once we have your brief, initial sketches and a quotation are prepared against your design requirements and specifications.

The design fee. Initial design work is not provided free of charge. A design fee applies to a newly developed or specially created design, and the quotation is prepared against your design requirements and specifications.

Revisions. Two revisions are included free of charge. Any further revisions requested after those two may incur additional charges, depending on the extent and complexity of the changes.

How charges are set. Design charges vary with the complexity of the piece, the level of customisation and your specific requirements. Any charge that applies is confirmed to you before the design work begins — nothing is charged without your agreement.

Engraving. Engraving is available on request, and additional charges may apply depending on the engraving requirements.

Returns on a commissioned piece. Bespoke and custom-made pieces are created specifically to your requirements and are not eligible for return or exchange, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Design ideas to start from

Starting points, not finished catalogue pieces. Each can be made in the metal and stone you choose.

  • Design idea · Emerald

    Halo ring

A coloured centre stone ringed with smaller ones. A stone you already own can be reset in exactly this way.

  • Design idea · Diamond

    Tennis bracelet

A continuous line of stones, matched for colour so the line reads evenly along the whole wrist.

  • Design idea · Emerald

    Drop earrings

The drop can be made to the length you specify, so they clear a collar without catching.

  • Design idea · Sapphire

    Cocktail ring

A single large stone in a low bezel, kept low in height so it sits comfortably for everyday wear.

Questions

Commissioning, answered

How long does a custom piece take?

It depends on the design and on sourcing the stone. Straightforward commissions from stones we already hold are the fastest; anything that needs a particular stone found and cut takes longer. We give you a date with the quote, before you commit.

How quickly will I see a design and a price?

Initial sketches and a quotation are prepared against your design requirements and specifications. An intricate piece, or one built around a stone we have to source, takes longer to price properly, and we would rather say so than quote badly.

What does it cost?

A custom piece is priced from the stone, the weight of metal and the work in the setting, so there is no standard figure. Send us a specification and we will quote against it. Initial design work is charged: a design fee applies to a newly created design, and it is confirmed to you before any work begins.

How many revisions do I get?

Two revisions are included free of charge. Further revisions after those two may incur additional charges, depending on how extensive the changes are — we will tell you what a change costs before we make it. Once casting begins, a change means starting again.

Can a commissioned piece be engraved?

Yes. Engraving is available on request, and additional charges may apply depending on the engraving requirements. Not every setting can carry an engraving — we will tell you before the piece is made if yours cannot.

Can you use a stone I already own?

Yes, and it is one of the most common things we are asked to do. Inherited stones can be reset into a new piece. We will examine the stone first and tell you honestly whether it is sound enough to be reset.

Are custom pieces returnable?

No. A bespoke or custom-made piece is created specifically to your requirements, so it is not eligible for return or exchange unless we have agreed otherwise with you in writing. That is exactly why nothing is made until you have approved both the design and the quotation. Manufacturing faults remain our responsibility to put right.

Is a custom piece hallmarked and certified?

Yes. A commissioned piece goes through the same checks as anything else we sell: gold is BIS hallmarked with HUID, and the centre stone can be certified by IGI, SGL or DGLA on request.
